Real 2020 Wedding - Karlee & Mark
We got married on July 18th 2020. There was a lot of heartache involved in this process. As things started to become more restricted we had to adapt our wedding plans. We were originally booked at the Western Development Museum with a guest list of over a hundred. We tried to remain optimistic until we got the email stating it was being canceled.
We decided to still go ahead with our date, the date we both chose and fell in love with. We ended up celebrating our ceremony at the Forestry Farm Park and Zoo in front of 26 of our family members , wedding party and closet friends. To be honest it was the best decision ever. We held our reception at Mano's and it turned out to be the small quaint wedding we didn't know we wanted. Mano's did a fantastic job everything from the food to the atmosphere. Our point of contact, Tasos, was so sweet. He had my favourite wine brought in, Jacob's Creek, as Mano's does not carry it.
Our advice for anyone considering postponing your happy day, don't! But in the end you do you. During these uncertain times postponing your wedding is only postponing potential heartache. I had to be helped through the process of being okay with the smaller gathering but we had alot of supportive people in our corner. Find ways to make it great in the face of adversity. You never know, it could end up being the most magical day of your life you didn't know about. We wouldn't take back our day for anything.
Reflecting back, we are so happy we didn't postpone as we are coming up on 6 months of being happily married rather than sweating it out for another year.
I hope this helps any future couples wrestling with this hard decision in the face of Covid-19. Stay strong friends, you got this!
