Real 2020 Weddings - Priscilla & Riley
What a year 2020 has been! We spent about a year planning our perfect wedding only to have it derailed by a global pandemic. However, we decided not to let that stop us from celebrating our special day.
We got married August 1st, 2020. The planning process ended up having to replan 30 days prior to our big day- stressful, I know! There were definitely pros and cons to having a pandemic styled wedding. The pro was that we were able to afford having our venue at the Sheraton Cavalier as there were less mouths to feed! We had 30 people including ourselves.
The con was the heartbreak I had as the bride, having always dreamt of the day my father could walk me down the aisle. But unfortunately, travelling from a couple provinces over wasn’t safe. I didn’t have my father walk me down the aisle, instead I asked my father-in-law to take his place. None of my family were able to be physically present as they’re all from down east. I was able to use a live streaming service that was incredibly user friendly ,called Eventlive, for everyone that could not take part in our wedding celebration so they could virtually attend.
Our wedding went off without a hitch! In the end, I realized it didn’t matter how big or small our wedding was, the weather was absolutely beautiful, sunshine throughout, and we had the time of our lives celebrating our union together. A pandemic wasn’t going to stop us from getting married. As much as a girl dreams of having the perfect wedding all her life, it was perfect for us! Even if the restrictions would’ve only allowed 5 people, we would’ve still gone through with it and enjoyed our day!
To the 2021 brides, only you can decide what matters most to you on your special day, because in the end, our day was just as special to us even if there was no pandemic hurdle to jump through! So have fun & enjoy it as the day goes by real quick when you’re having fun!
